No tracking cookies, no ads, no consent banner. DateNight only stores what's strictly necessary to work, and our analytics don't use cookies or identify you.
What we store on your device
DateNight doesn't set cookies of its own. It uses your browser's local storage (a similar technology) for the following, all strictly necessary or simple preferences:
| Item | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|
Sign-in session (sb-…-auth-token) | Keeps you signed in | Until you sign out |
currentUserId | Remembers which account is signed in on this device | Until you sign out |
auth_redirect | Returns you to the page you were on after signing in | This browser session |
messages_last_seen | Shows the unread-messages dot | Until you sign out |
Home-screen prompt (dn_installed, dn_install_dismissals, dn_visit_days) | Remembers whether DateNight is installed, when you last closed the “add to home screen” prompt, and which recent days you opened the app, so the prompt only appears at a sensible moment. Stays on your device; never sent to us. | Until you clear site data (only the last 10 days are kept) |
| App cache (service worker) | Stores the app icon and manifest so the installed app opens quickly | Until the app updates |
Because these are strictly necessary for a service you asked for, they don't require consent under Canadian law or under Austria's Telecommunications Act (§ 165 TKG 2021) and the EU ePrivacy rules.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand overall usage, such as which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It counts visits using a hash that changes every day, so it can't recognise you across days or across websites, and we can't see who you are. It records the page, the referring site, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type.
Third parties
- Sign in with Google happens on Google's own pages, under Google's cookie and privacy policies.
- Google Maps: when you search for your city or a venue inside the app, Google's Maps service loads from Google's servers and receives your search and IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Your choices
Signing out clears your session. You can also clear site data in your browser settings at any time; you'll just need to sign in again.
