Find a date in Toronto, tonight or this week
DateNight is a dating app for meeting in person. People in Toronto post real plans (a coffee, a drink, a gallery, a walk) and you ask to join the ones you'd enjoy. The host approves who comes, a short chat opens the day before, and you meet.
DateNight is in beta in Toronto. Anyone in Ontario can sign up, and most dates are in the city itself. It's free.
How it works in Toronto
- Browse dates near you. Explore shows upcoming dates within 100 km from people whose interests match yours both ways.
- Ask to join. The host sees your profile and decides. Dates are for 2 to 6 people, including the host.
- Tonight works. Hosts can post for the same evening, so a free night can still turn into a date.
- Three messages, then meet. The chat opens 24 hours before, and each person gets three messages.
Where Torontonians meet for first dates
Dates are always at a public venue the host picks. A few neighbourhoods that work well for a first meeting:
- Ossington and Dundas West: dense with bars and small restaurants, easy to move on somewhere else if it's going well.
- Kensington Market: cafés, vintage shops and food stalls; good for a daytime coffee and a wander.
- Queen West and Trinity Bellwoods: a park walk in summer, cafés and galleries year-round.
- The Annex: bookshops, pubs and cafés along Bloor, a short subway ride from most of the city.
- Leslieville: relaxed brunch and coffee spots on the east side.
- Distillery District and the waterfront: pedestrian streets and lake views for a walk-and-talk.
- High Park: trails and gardens for an active date.
Date ideas by category
Every date on DateNight has a category, so you can browse by mood:
- Drinks: a patio in summer, a cocktail bar in winter.
- Dinner: one of Toronto's neighbourhood restaurants, from Chinatown to Little Italy.
- Active: a High Park walk, a waterfront bike ride, or skating at Nathan Phillips Square in winter.
- Fun: a gallery, a comedy night, a market or a game.
- Flirty: a low-key wine bar or dessert spot.
Getting there and home
Most of these neighbourhoods are on or near the TTC subway or streetcar lines, and the Blue Night network runs overnight buses. Plan your own way home, keep your phone charged, and tell a friend where you're going. There's more in our safety guide. In an emergency, call 911.
Toronto questions
Is DateNight available outside Toronto?
Anyone in Ontario can sign up, but almost all dates are in Toronto for now, so you may see few or none elsewhere yet.
Can I find a date for tonight in Toronto?
Yes. Hosts can post dates for the same evening. Request to join, and if you're approved the chat opens and you meet that night.
Does it cost anything?
No. DateNight is free during the beta. What you spend at the venue is between you and your date.
Is there an app?
DateNight runs in your browser. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app. There's nothing to download from an app store.
