How it works

Plans, not profiles

DateNight is a dating app where people post real dates (a coffee, a concert, a walk, dinner) and others ask to join. No swiping, no endless texting: you pick a plan you'd actually enjoy and meet in person.

1. Sign in and make a profile

Sign in with Google, confirm you're 18 or older, and set up your profile: your name, birthday, gender, who you'd like to meet, your city, three to six photos and your height. A bio, education, ethnicity, lifestyle details and social handles are optional.

2. Browse dates near you

Explore shows upcoming dates posted by people within 100 km whose interests match yours both ways: they're open to meeting someone like you, and you to them. Filter by category (Fun, Flirty, Dinner, Drinks, Active), activity, distance, age and more.

3. Ask to join

See a plan you like? Request to join. The host sees your profile and approves or declines. You'll get an email either way (you can turn emails off in Settings).

4. Say hello, then meet

Twenty-four hours before the date, a short chat opens for the host and approved guests. Each person gets three messages, enough to confirm the details. You'll also get a reminder email the day before. Then go and meet.

Or post your own

Pick a category, choose a venue, set the time (it can be tonight), describe the plan and decide how many people can come, from 2 to 6 including you. Then approve the requests you like.

Questions

Is DateNight free?

Yes. Browsing, posting dates and requesting to join are free during the beta, and no payment details are ever asked for. If we add paid features later, we will say so clearly before anything costs money; nothing you use today will start charging you on its own.

Can I find a date for tonight?

Yes. Hosts can post a date for later the same day. Request to join, and if the host approves you, the chat opens and you meet that evening.

Where is DateNight available?

Anyone in Ontario (Canada) or Austria can sign up. Almost all activity is in Toronto and Vienna for now, so outside those cities you may see few or no dates yet.

Who can see my profile?

Only members who could join one of your dates (you are each looking for someone like the other, and they are within 100 km) and people you have shared a date with. Profiles are not public and are not shown to search engines. Your email address and exact location are never shown to anyone; other members see the city you chose.

Why only three messages?

So plans turn into an actual meeting instead of weeks of texting. Chat opens 24 hours before the date for the host and approved guests, and each person can send three messages: enough to confirm the details and say hello.

Is it one-on-one or a group?

The host decides. A date can be for 2 to 6 people including the host, and the host approves everyone who joins.

Is there an app to download?

DateNight is a web app. It runs in any modern browser, and you can add it to your phone’s home screen so it opens like an app. There is no App Store or Google Play download.

How do I sign in?

With your Google account. You need to be 18 or older.

How do I report someone?

Any date can be reported with “Report this date” on its page. You can also report a person you’ve crossed paths with (a host whose date you asked to join, or someone who asked to join yours) from their profile. Reports go straight to the DateNight team, and a person reviews each one.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. It permanently deletes your profile, photos, the dates you host, your RSVPs and your messages.
